Teaching personal safety in the automobile manufacturing industry is a difficult task, but it is a deparately
needed one. Every year, thousands of Americans are injured on manufacturing floors due to largely preventable
causes. Select Int., a company based out of Pittsburgh, has developed a revolutionary assessment called SafetyDNA,
which utilizes psychology to predict potential safety incidents.
Despite winning OSHA’s 2017 safety product of the year award, Select Int. is still having trouble communicating their product to workers so that their lessons stick and workers are encouraged to take actions that improve their safety. That's why VINCI is developing a VR simulation that can teach workers how to react to unsafe work conditions.
Workers can now get the experience of being injured due to unsafe actions without the actual physical consequences. By doing this, the principles of SafetyDNA can be deeply embedded into workers’ minds, making them remember safety traits better on real-world lines.
